Searching for a name to call their company, Bella & Alexa found themselves at a surf premiere in Byron Bay. After working as a freelance duo for Australia’s top brands and agencies, they dreamed of building their own end-to-end creative studio with roots planted firmly in the outdoors. Just as surfer danced across the screen capturing their imagination, a physicist eloquently narrated the “The Physics of Noseriding” and how a surfboard is propelled through water by what is known as The Coanda Effect. The two surfers looked at each other in awe. It was then and there that their dream production company “Coanda Effect” was born.

How did two ex-pro snowboarders from England & America find themselves in the Australian desert clutching cameras at dawn? Well it was through a chance beachside picnic that these two ex-pro snowboarders turned avid wave-chasers met. A little digging found that they had lived quite similar lives. Fast forward a year and that chance encounter lead to a beautiful creative partnership that saw them produce work for We Are Explorers, Tourism Australia, The North Face, Great Northern Brewing, Pargo, and countless other leading brands.

The Coanda Effect was born from their desire to do bl**dy great work! Without the fluff that can accompany the creative and production process. Both multi-talented creatives, directors and producers, together they are a powerhouse, driven by a desire to represent more female perspectives in the creative industry.

Bella is a Director of Photography with a nact for storytelling through her uniquely beautiful and connective films. Switching a professional snowboarding career for a camera-in-hand she captures the essence of adventures through her vivid and immersive visual perceptions. Her passion for filmmaking is fuelled by the emotion she injects into viewers cusping to her stories. She transcends her audience into another world with the imaginative tales told through her visuals. Originally grass fed and born on the lands of the US, she migrated into Australia and the Coanda Effect with her creative enthusiasm, gifted storytelling and as an in-demand Director (DOP). With a enviable client list including Corina, Glad Wrap & Chris Hemsworth’s own workout platform Centr.

Alexa is one of Australia’s leading Producers / Directors and branded content experts. Having cut her teeth in London before being headhunted for a role in Australia. She has been responsible for some of Australia’s biggest branded content wins including Ready For Takeoff for Channel 9 and Qantas, a 100x episode TikTok reality show called UNDSCVRD for Samsung, as well as multiple award winning TVCs and integrated campaigns. Combining her passion for storytelling with her love of the outdoors is a dream come true for this pocket rocket producer.
